Botox® treatment is quick, affordable, and completely non-invasive. Yet still, many people are hesitant to undergo treatment for fear that their face will end up “frozen.”
But the good news is, there’s a long list of myths surrounding Botox (including the “frozen” face myth). Here are a few side effects that you may actually experience after your first treatment.
Potential Side Effects Following Botox
1. You may have some mild redness and swelling.
Don’t sweat it — mild redness and swelling are very common following any type of injection. The redness and swelling should go done within 10 to 15 minutes on its own, but it wouldn’t hurt to also apply a cold compress to help the area as well.
2. Some patients experience headaches after treatment.
It’s not as common as redness or swelling, but it can happen! As a precaution, don’t schedule anything that requires too much effort on the same day as your treatment (like working out) — and stock up on Tylenol just in case.
3. You may see some bruising the day after your treatment.
Not everyone experiences bruising, but if you do, it’s nothing a little makeup can’t fix.
4. You’ll start to see movement return to the treated area in a few months.
Botox injections are temporary, so you’ll see effects gradually wear off 3 to 4 months after your first treatment.
