What Is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal treatments employ a focused beam of light energy to heat hair follicles in the targeted area. The heat damages the hair follicles, which slows and prevents hair regrowth. Who Qualifies for Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is most effective for individuals with light skin and dark, coarse hair, as the laser targets hair pigment, but newer technologies like Nd:Yag lasers now allow safe treatment for different skin and hair types.
Individuals with certain skin conditions, such as psoriasis or eczema, may need special preparation or may not be ideal candidates. Those with hormonal conditions like PCOS may experience regrowth and require maintenance sessions.
Clients with tanned skin should wait for some time before undergoing treatment, as tanning increases the risk of burns.

What Is a Laser Hair Removal Treatment Like?
Laser hair removal is generally a safe procedure when done properly and by trained professionals. During the treatment, protective eyewear must be worn both by the provider and the client.
While the laser hair removal is not typically painful, some discomfort may be experienced and can feel similar to a snap of a rubber band against the skin.
A typical session ranges from a few minutes to about an hour, depending on the size of the area being treated. Smaller areas like the upper lip or underarms may take only 10-15 minutes, while larger areas like the back or legs may take up to an hour or more.
What to Expect After Laser Hair Removal
You will be given aftercare instructions to follow to encourage optimal healing. It is especially important that you do not expose the skin to direct sunlight and that you only apply skincare products approved by our provider until otherwise directed.
Minor skin irritation, redness, and/or swelling can occur after laser hair removal. These symptoms generally resolve on their own within a few days.
How Long Does Laser Hair Removal Last?
With regular maintenance appointments, you can enjoy smooth, hair-free skin for many years to come. We recommend scheduling maintenance appointments every six months, or as needed, to prevent hair regrowth.
